Manuscript Evaluation

You’ve finished your manuscript and would like to know exactly what is required to ensure it is ready to be published. This step will determine the amount and type of work that will be needed to get your manuscript ready for editing. It will also likely save on your editing costs in the long-run.

With a manuscript evaluation, we will:

  • Conduct an initial, thorough read-through of your manuscript.
  • Make general notes in areas that may require re-working, with questions or suggestions for improvement.
  • Make recommendations for enhancing the manuscript which may involve organization and structure.
  • Provide a cover letter detailing our findings and the next steps in the publishing process.
Fee: $200 (up to 100 pages)
Timing: 1 week

Developmental Editing

Your manuscript has been evaluated and rather than revise it yourself, you’d prefer to have a professional get it in shape for you. This step will ensure the main message of the manuscript is clear, creates a consistent flow by correcting awkward areas and eliminating redundancy.

Through developmental editing we will:

  • Dive deeply into the content, reviewing line by line, to assess necessary structural changes, identify gaps or areas that need additional content, and flag sections that do not work well as written.
  • Edit the manuscript and allow the client to accept or reject recommended changes.
  • Incorporate all changes approved and accepted by the client.
  • Provide client with revised version of the manuscript for final approval, noting significant edits made and highlighting comments/questions they need to address.
Fee: $65 (per thousand words)
Timing: 2-3 weeks

  • Review the content line by line to correct any errors, ensure writing is clear, and eliminate redundancy.
  • Ensure author’s tone is maintained throughout the manuscript.

During proofreading we will:
